Boxing as cross training for entrepreneurship
Nearly every moring I wake up at 6:00 am and head down to Trinity Boxing Gym. After wrapping my hands, stretching and jumping rope I usually will get in the ring and spar about five rounds. You learn to deal with pressure when you are moving around the ring with someone who is trying to punch you in the face as many times and as hard as they can. Things change so quickly in the ring. One second you are on the attack, feeling invincible. Before you know it your punches are missing and you are getting pounded to the body. You have to alter your strategy, slip punches, get on your toes. That three minute round starts feeling like an eternity. Are you going to make it?
There is something about getting punched in the face before you head into the office that makes all the meetings, pressure and quick decissions necessary to be a start up founder a little easier to handle.
